The AdSense No-No List
Practices That Will Get You
Banned From AdSense
Protecting
the quality of its search engine results is of supreme
importance to Google for a variety of reasons. Therefore
they place high importance on the quality and relevancy of
their search engine results. Keeping their search engine
users happy keeps their shareholders happy. To remain a
growing and vibrant company it is imperative that Google
protect its greatest asset, the user.
For this
reason, violating Google’s AdSense policies, intentionally
or not, will result in getting your account terminated and
you banned for life from participating in the AdSense
program. Therefore, if you are thinking about profiting in
the AdSense area, you must consider some things in addition
to strategy and that is policy adherence. You will
definitely want to avoid the following practices if you wish
to keep your AdSense account active.
Page
Cloaking
This is a
method of AdSense optimization whereby web pages are loaded
strictly for the sake of optimization and that site visitors
will never see. Website owners create a separate optimized
page for search engines and a more aesthetically pleasing
site for their visitors. When search engine spiders visit a
site the optimized page is delivered to it. When a human
visits the site they are taken to a different page designed
for them. For example, the optimized page may contain a
great many repetitious keywords which might not make sense
to a human reader, but to a search engine spider the page
may appear to be very relevant.
Doorways
This is very
similar to page cloaking. Doorway pages are simplified HTML
pages customized to specific keywords and phrases. They are
specially programmed to be visible only to search engine
spiders. The intent is to trick search engines into raising
the rank of these pages. When a human visitor lands on one
of these pages, they are quickly redirected to the genuine
web page.
Hidden
Text
This is the
art of filling a web page with keywords in text too small to
read or in the same color as the background. Web site owners
will also try to hide links in this manner. The goal is to
make the web page as relevant to AdSense as possible by
adding an abundance of keywords in this manner and not
interfering with its readability. However, the net result is
having your account banned.
Link
Farms
This is a process (usually automated) of
different websites exchanging reciprocal links to increase
search engine optimization. Theoretically, the more sites
that link to your website the more popular your site is
perceived to be by the search engines. Essentially it is a
form of spamming search engine indexes (spamdexing). There
are other link exchanges that are not considered spamdexing
which allow you to link to other sites which are relevant to
your own.
Multiple Domains with the Same Content
Having multiple domains with the exact same
content is something that cannot be hidden. This popular
technique to increase web traffic can actually bring in less
traffic. Concentrate on having one large quality website.
Multiple Site Submissions
Avoid multiple submissions of your website
and pages to search engines. They will consider it spamming
and ban you from being listed. Check to see if your site has
already been listed before you submit it. For this reason it
is advisable to avoid auto submitters.
Develop the mindset that you are building
websites with human users in mind and not bots. Avoid the
temptation to circumvent the process and better use that
time developing a quality site. You well reap greater
rewards by taking this approach. |
